I am an activist in the field of ecofeminism and critical posthumanism. As a professional in the field of contemporary music, that is important to me.
In a 2021, I engaged in feminist protest against sexism in music curating regarding a symposium and concert that was planned at the ZKM Karlsruhe. This protest is documented in my book article Composing futures. Activism and ecology in contemporary music in the anthology Sounding Fragilities (Lehmann and Palme, 2022), pp 41-60.
As an artist and activist, I collaborated with the voice performer Gina Mattiello in founding, organising and curating a feminist festival. We called the festival e_may Festival neuer und elektronischer Musik. The festival existed from 2007 to 2012 (with some activities into 2014). It was the first Austrian festival that explicitly commissioned new works by women* composers in order to promote gender equality in contemporary music.
